Drawing, trivia and word games are often easy to play with low barriers to entry. They're also a lot of fun. They manage to involve the whole family in ways that most modern board games struggle to do. Tags is a crossing of that emphasis with some more 'gamery' elements that make it a great addition to your collection.

Tags uses the box to full effect as you lay the board into the insert creating a four by five grid. The board has holes punched through to place large marbles on so that you end up with 20 marbles randomly placed. Marbles come in white, blue and black and are worth one, two and three points respectively. Labelling the five columns are category cards and the four rows are letter cards. You flip over the top cards of each, giving you a grid of categories, and the letters the answers must begin with.

Each player takes a turn of 15 seconds trying to shout out words that match the letters in each category and taking a marble for each successful one. You don't have to stick to the same category but taking the last marble from one also lets you take the card which gives you more points!

This gives you a quandary! 15 seconds is not long - do you try and smash a column and risk leaving it for someone else to take? Spread your answers out and hope to get another turn? Just go for the black big point marbles? Added to this everyone is listening to your answers so they might be inspired to think of words they hadn't yet considered! Tags is a winning combination of thought and word game madness well worth checking out!
